Melee vs Ranged in encounters; is it just me or are these fights more difficult than last arena?

Not only that but it seems like this time there are SIGNIFICANTLY MORE fights (than last arena event) that start the fight off with the opponent at a distance from you, whereas before - at least for me and I placed top 50 I found most of my fights to either start with and stay at melee, or at least have most of the encounter be one within melee range. I averaged out all my encounters for one of the days and found that I was able to consistently hit 21-24 or more times in each encounter. This time, it's the complete opposite, my average hits for today throughout the 60 or so encounters I've completed is 19.

Why does this matter? Well let's face it melee fights are much easier than trying to hit something with random directional changes moving across the screen with ammunition that hits significantly later after being fired. I don't know if it's just me, maybe someone else can chime in but not only are easy fights harder to come by this round, but the encounters themselves are proving to be more mentally and physically demanding because with some ranged parts of an encounter, I don't care who you are you won't hit every single throwing star every single time on the dot, without using some advanced techniques/leverage/gaining the edge (more on that after the event )

From what i took from russell's quote was that he meant they dont give out random generated low lvl characters for us as an option much anymore. Maybe because i'm actually playing regular and not spending that i'm with everybody else so I fight everybody else as when i was spending i would get ahead of the pack and there r rarely any1 on the higher flrs yet and then i get to fight ez characters. Also it was my bad judgement to go into water tower lol. Such a bad decision. 11k ppl in the tower and i still go in. silly me

I think it is great they bumped the difficulty of the fights up. I managed to ace many ppl without taking damage because they had stronger attack and so they didnt attack very often (cuz that is how it works If they do more than 15% dmg to u with one hit, they wont attack the first time u get them on shurikens).
