How long does It take for leveling?

So I've been playing this game off and on for about 2 years. I might play for a month then stop for like 4 or 5 and then might play for another month or two then stop. So about two months ago I added this level 80 as a friend. I stopped playing for two months and I've just came back this current event and he is level 800 now. I'm only level 267 so I'm wondering how long does it take on average for a free player to level and any tips

U should be lvling 3 times a day if u use ur karma along with wait times. Sometimes 4 if u start early enough in the morning.

Yes it is regardless of lvl, NR set everybody to lvl up 3-4 times a day. I have heard back in the early days of NR they used to not increase ur exp as u lvl up and u would have to grind long hours to even lvl up once. So they made it easier for players and so that every 5--10 lvl up ur exp also increase with u. Thats y lvl was never really consider a good indicator for how strong a player really is and higher lvl only means u have been playing the game for a long time.
